Enchanting is a secondary skill (accessible using the "L" key in-game). As such, it will not count towards your 700 skill point cap.

Using materials dropped by monsters in the world, an Enchanter can enchant skills that are at Grandmaster level (100) to give a player unique/new abilities or modifications to existing skills for use in PvE, gathering, crafting, rogue and bard skills - but not PvP. These enchantments will all have 4 ranks.

How do I start enchanting?[edit | edit source]

Skill Prerequisites: 100 magery, 100 inscription, 100 item identification

Monsters in the world will drop Unidentified Enchanting Scrolls. These scrolls can be identified only by players with 100 Item Identification skill and successfully identifying a scroll will yield one of the 64 possible enchantments.

This identified Enchanting Scroll can then be added to an Enchanting Book, crafted by scribes. (see Inscription) This book is not blessed and has durability. Each Enchanting Book's durability will allow hundreds of enchants to be cast, so an Enchanter will be able to maintain the same book for a significant amount of time.

Prior to being able to perform any enchantments and gain skill, you must have a FULL (completed) enchanting book with all 64 enchantments.

(This creates a new economy around these scrolls.)

Enchanting mechanic[edit | edit source]

Once you have a full enchanting book in your inventory, you can use the enchanting skill on yourself or another player. This will display a list of all the skills the player has at 100 (Grandmaster) or that have an active enchantment already applied.

The enchanter can then remove an existing enchantment (with no cost in materials) or add an enchantment to one of the GM skills.

When adding an enchantment to a GM skill, the enchanter can only choose the rank (1-4). The higher the rank, the rarer the enchanting materials required and subsequently, the higher the cost. Once the rank is chosen by the Enchanter, a random enchantment of that rank will be applied.

Yes, this means that your GM Swordsmanship skill could be enchanted with a fishing enchantment. It also means that a 7x GM standard Bard/Tamer could have all tamer and bard enchantments, applied across all of her skills.

(Note: If you have a skill that is already enchanted lose points and drop below 100, the existing enchantment will remain applied, but will become inactive. For example: If you have Grandmaster Mining (100) enchanted and decide to drop it down to 50 in order to free up 50 skill points for another skill, the enchantment on Grandmaster mining will remain, but become inactive until the skill reaches Grandmaster (100) level again. Only Grandmaster level skills (100) can have active enchantments, limiting the total amount of active enchantments per character to 7.)

Temporary Enchanting Scroll[edit | edit source]

Enchanters can also create Temporary Enchanting Scrolls. These can be used by anyone. They open a list of all the enchantments and the user can choose which enchantment they want. It will apply a rank 2 version of that enchant that will last 1 hour while disabling all other enchantments. Note that you will need 10 of each tier 2 material for this. These are useful for that time you really need a specific enchant or want to try a new one out. They can be used even with no skills at GM.

Enchanting Materials[edit | edit source]

All town mage shops have an Enchanting Cube of Transmutations where you can change 5 rank 1 or 2 enchanting materials for one of the next rank. Ranks 4 enchanting materials will always be drop only.
