Surveying is a secondary skill used in conjunction with Mining that, when used on a mining node, gives the miner information about what ore is there and how much ore is left there.
Higher skill levels reveals a better chance at figuring out information about that rock and finding out more information when successful.
GM Surveying (or Forestry) adds a 33% chance to gain additional resources.
Usage[edit | edit source]
Surveying has a pre-requisite of 30 Mining skill before you can begin.
To use Surveying, use a Prospector's Tool on a mineable rock. You can do this up to 5 times.
Bonuses[edit | edit source]
If you are at 100 of the secondary skill for the harvesting skills (Surveying/Forestry) then you have one more chance at 33% to find an additional resource to the swing, for a total possible of 4 pieces per swing.
If you are lucky enough to find a Motherlode/Ancient-Tree, then your output is doubled, allowing up to 8 logs/ore in a best-case scenario.
These figures do not include the Gargoyle Pickaxes or other artifact tools.
